What is a Casement Window?

Different to Sash Windows, Casement windows open in or our rather than slide vertically up or down. Casement windows operate with hinges and have various different mechanisms that can be used, all of which are opened and closed with a lockable handle.

What Variations of Casement Windows are Available?

The two main variations of timber casement windows are whether they are 'side hung' i.e.have hinges on the side or 'top hung' having their hinges at the top. Typically casement windows open outwards.

In addition to the above there are a vast array of different options, from single windows, double windows, French doors and the list goes on.

Most clients start by looking at replicating the style of your existing casement windows but we can manufacture any style or design of window and are happy to work with you to achieve the style of window you want.

What are the Advantages of Casement Windows?

Ease of opening and closing - Casement windows are particularly easy to open and close, just open using the handle and either push open or pull closed. Various different mechanisms can be installed to ensure maximum security and safety in your home.

Energy Efficient - Double glazed casement windows are extremely energy efficient, all our windows include draft seals which create a tight seal dramatically  reducing the movement of cold air coming into your home.

For high humidity areas such as kitchens and bathrooms we include trickle vents which allow the air to circulate. Safe and Secure. With hinges either top or bottom and many different options of locking systems, such as 'Secure by Design' all our casement windows are highly secure, furthermore double glazing is far more secure than single glazing.

Are Casement Windows a Good Value Option for Replacement Windows?

Yes. Casement windows provide excellent value if you are looking to replace your existing windows. Furthermore, timber casement windows tend to be smaller and therefore far easier to fit that sash windows.
